NSE Imperial Chancellery Parties Put Forth Candidates For Seat Of High Chancellor

Options
FULFWOTZ-The atmosphere in the capital of the New Sammichian Empire is tense as the three state parties vie for the vacant seat of High Chancellor, following Kiera C. Krugerrand's resignation in the midst of an investigation into the 2014 election which put her in power.

Krugerrand's administration announced her resignation a week ago, after private emails leaked by her former first assistant, Nylo Meres, implicated her in an act of potential electoral fraud; specifically, tampering with and manipulating voter counts in electronic voting machines across the Empire. Her administration asserted the resignation was purely to maintain the 'flow of democracy and legislation', citing Madam Krugerrand's inability to both function as the land's highest legislator and cooperate with the ongoing investigation. Others perceive her stepping down as a thinly-veiled attempt to evade the harsh sentence and impeachment she would receive were she convicted while holding office.

New information was brought to light on Tuesday further implicating Krugerrand; the Fulfwotz-based company responsible for manufacturing the electronic voting machines used in the 2014 election, Politech Manufacturing, is a privately-traded company whose majority shareholder is none other than the Krugerrand Corporation, the multinational corporate powerhouse operated by the family.

In the meantime, Emperor Sammich has assumed his role as interim High Chancellor; in his week-long tenure, the Emperor already succeeded in rolling back Krugerrand-era legislation that mandated weekly debriefings on the Emperor's activities. He also vetoed the controversial Caffan Referendum bill, which would allow the city to seek self-determination. However, his term comes to a close soon, as the three parties have put forth their candidates in preparation for the emergency election to be held. Candidate profiles are below:
DAGO VUERES
Free Monarchy Party {FMP)
Chancer Dago Vueres, currently serving in the Chancery (the middle house of the Chancellery) representing Fulfwotz, is one of the most popular politicians in the Empire. He's known for his charisma and oratory skills, currently holding the record for most speeches given before the Chancellery (277). He has served three consecutive terms for a total of eighteen years, granting him unparalleled experience and respect. He has a close relationship with the Emperor and is dedicated to upholding the traditional prestige and position of the monarchy in the Imperial government. Early polling has predicted a landslide victory for Vueres, due in part to a backlash against the conservatism of the Krugerrand administration and the controversial sponsorship from the Emperor; opponents argue that this is unfair and his cultural sway will influence the election in Vueres's favor.

ZEENA K. RITZ-KHALIFA
United Progressive Party (UPP)
Currently serving as the Director of Kretopol. the state law enforcement agency, Zeena Komal Ritz-Khalifa is no stranger to government bylaws and conduct. Noted for spearheading the resurgence of the Ritz-Khalifa family in Imperial politics after its bankruptcy in 1983, she has become popular for her work ethic and hardline approach to the crime epidemic plaguing the Empire's urban centers. She ran against Krugerrand in 2014, but was the subject of criticism after leaked recordings revealed Ritz-Khalifa's concerns that Krugerrand might tamper with the election results and berating those who support her; given the present situation, she maintains a very high degree of credibility. In 2016, she was ranked #8 on Global Magazine's Most Powerful Women In The World list. One thing that may hold the candidate back is her support of a second Caffan Referendum bill; Caffan independence is generally not supported by most Fulfwotzians.

STEPHEN SAVOY
Conservative Constitutional Party (CCP)
Formerly a member of the FMP and Emperor Sammich's Minister of Finance, Savoy was pushed out of his role by the Emperor after changing his party allegiance. Despite this, Stephen Savoy has remained a prominent figure in the Chancellery, serving as a consultant, strategist, and senior advisor to Krugerrand. The CCP favors him as it believes he can excel where his predecessor's administration struggled; enacting conservative legislation outside of limiting the Emperor's powers. His political leanings and economic experience make him extremely popular in Caffa, which has been undergoing an economic crisis for the past decade. He has managed to forge numerous political alliances and has claimed that he "can't wait for a private sit-down with the Emperor", foreshadowing a relationship more volatile than that of the Emperor and Kiera C. Krugerrand.
Elections will take place across the Empire the week of April 17th, with a new High Chancellor being proclaimed on the 24th.

Emperor Sammich has refused to comment.
