Monon Plague spreads; Oranjestad neighborhoods under quarantine

Options
The so-called Monon Plague is continuing its devastating advance through Oranjestad territories. Lord Nebbers has issued quarantine orders for large swaths of the city, forbidding travel to and from Skylan, Irvington, Pennsy, Monon, and Brutalpest College. CDC inspection points have been placed along all roads in and out of the city as well, hoping to prevent the spread of the disease to other nations.

Early Sunday morning, the CDC lost contact with a checkpoint near Milliput Farm. A detachment of Oranjestad troops were dispatched Sunday evening to make contact but have not been heard from since.

The Monon Plague is thought to have originated in the jungle island village of Jarreau, long a bastion of the fanatical Third Eye cult movement. Last week, spiritual leader Al Jarreau Jr. passed away during a religious ceremony. His son, Al Jarreau the Third, was immediately declared the spiritual successor. Since then, there has been no communication with the village.

As it is not yet known of the disease is spread, CDC officials are advising all residents to stay indoors, avoid contact with other people, and report any unusual behavior. Infected residents may exhibit foaming of the mouth and violence toward healthy individuals.

Padme Amidala - Equos: So this is how health and wellness dies w- with thunderous applause.

Sergio Georgini - Skylan: At least we still have Internet. Keep my in quarantine for as long as you want!

Donald Sutherplace - Emerald City: Mark my words, Oranjestad will collapse and be sold for scrap in a months time!

    THE IMPERIAL EYEWITNESS
Emperor Orders Travel Restrictions Amidst Oranjestad Epidemic

Following the outbreak of a mysterious viral illness in the Oranjestad territory of Monon, the Emperor has ordered the closing of Imperial borders to Oranjestad travelers and tighter restrictions on international travel.

The new High Chancellor Zeena K. Ritz-Khalifa fully backed the Emperor's decision in a press conference this afternoon, promising to mobilize science teams and IAF squadrons to assist in "...the recovery and security of one of the New Sammichian Empire's oldest and closest allies." Researchers from DePrey Institute in Fulfwotz have expressed a willingness to assist Oranjestad doctors and scientists look further into the virus's nature and origin.

The scene is a familiar one to Emperor Sammich, who led the New Sammichian Empire through the devastating Second Plague almost sixty years ago. The plague led to an enormous loss of life and widespread social, political, and economic destabilization for the decades following. This afternoon, a shipment of bamboo from the Oranjestad protectorate of Jarreau arrived in the harbor of Caffa; it was immediately intercepted by the Second Imperial Naval Legion stationed in the city, and the ship has not been allowed to dock; it was ordered to either leave Imperial waters or contact the Oranjestad consulate in the city.

So far, no cases of the illness have been reported in the Empire.
